Citing an anonymous source close to the Huntsville Stars, the team will be sold to an ownership group based out of Biloxi, Miss. and effectively move in 2015.

The inevitable move comes on the heels of ongoing speculation regarding the future of the team at Joe Davis Stadium.

Milwaukee has made it known to Stars officials in the past the team is in need of a new stadium and nearly ended its Player Development Agreement with the Double A Southern League team following the 2012 season.

Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin explored other Double A alternatives but extended its contract with Huntsville after finding no potential partners in Double A.

At the present time, Milwaukee’s relationship with Huntsville is the longest of all affiliates dating back to 1999 when the Brewers opted out of its deal with El Paso.

An official announcement is expected to be made by the Huntsville Stars Wednesday at the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla. according to Mark McCarter of the Huntsville Times.

In addition, the team is also expected to announce the hiring of former Chattanooga Lookout Manager Carlos Subero, most recently with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the High A California League.

Subero has been part of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for the last five seasons including three seasons with the Double A Chattanooga Lookouts.

Subero, 41, played a majority of his minor league career with the Kansas City Royals organization starting in 1991 and capped off his career with Independent League team Meridian of the Big South League.
